Just some talented people making music and making people laugh. (Message me with ideas to check out or you are a musician/comedian!)
Reggie seems like an incredible human. He spreads good vibes and positivity through his "Sing With Me For Free" series where he asks random people to sing a song with him in public spaces while he accompanies them on guitar and sometimes busts out a pitch perfect note as well. As someone who has dealt with severe stage fright my entire life, I think his support and willingness to showcase the power of music and song is life changing for a lot of people.
I've been watching Steven James for a while now and he has a voice that I could listen to forever. Ugh. It's a gift.
So Trey Kennedy has gotten somewhere good these days and if you're on Facebook i'm sure you've seen one of his videos but his impression of a middle school boy was my son a few years ago. I mean, it was so good even my son laughed at it. If you want an honest chuckle, check him out. He's got good vibes.
Art comes in all forms. These are some fantastic artists. (Message me with ideas to check out or if you are an artist!)
Kelly McKernan is a beautifully talented artist and if I were rich I'd buy everything she makes. One day. She paints flawlessly etherial works of art and I love them all.
From The Mind Of Christine McConnell amazes me. I'm slightly jealous. I wish I had the amount of talent and creativity she has. Her asthetic and her ability to create incredible things is just, beyond me. I think she's super freaking cool and worth checking out, even if it's just to be in awe of her abilities.
Crisco Art paints amazing art that can be enjoyed both in the light and the dark with glow in the dark paints. They are truly beautiful and again, I want them all.
Hyper Art is a small buisness that makes creative pop sockets, rings, pins, keychains...You can also order custom pieces. They are made of clay and resin and are increibly unique. Also, they probabaly aren't for children, but if you're not a kid, definetly check them out!
I'm a sucker for a good non fiction book and documentary because they are like books I can watch. These are some great ones to watch and learn a little something something.
"Filmmaker Ava DuVernay explores the history of racial inequality in the United States, focusing on the fact that the nation's prisons are disproportionately filled with African-Americans. " Released in 2016, it has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's a seriously important watch. Just, watch it. Please.
"Fueled by a gripping performance from David Oyelowo, Selma draws inspiration and dramatic power from the life and death of Martin Luther King, Jr. -- but doesn't ignore how far we remain from the ideals his work embodied." Release in 2014, Selma is an Oscar Winning historical drama that has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's a masterfully done telling of the struggle of the racism in our country and the people who gave their lives to help end it. We still have a long way to go.
"At a 2012 pre-season high school football party in Steubenville, Ohio, a young woman is raped. The aftermath exposes an entire culture of complicity and the roles that peer pressure, denial, sports machismo, and social media played in the tragedy." With 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, this documentary is an eye opening look at what happens when sports and atheletes are prioritized over the safety and well being of humankind.
"In two towns on different sides of America, two teenage girls pass out while intoxicated at high school parties and, while unconscious, both are sexually assaulted by boys they call friends. In the aftermath, the girls each endure online harassment, both attempt suicide, and tragically, one dies." This story has a tragic ending with both girls and a mother unaliving themselves. Its the absolute pain and horror of SA and bullying/harassment/shaming. It's a bullseye view on the lack of compassion
"Reporters from The Indianapolis Star expose the toxic culture inside USA Gymnastics as the truth about Dr Larry Nassar sexual abusing young gymnasts comes out." Thankfully this monster is in jail but listening to what these young women had to experience while still performing at the top tier of athleticism with the pressures to succeed is mind blowing. Its a terrible story or abuse mixed with a beautiful story of resiliance and courage.
